This functionality is only available for custom mobile applications.
Functionality Behavior
- The “Scan” tab feature is always displayed within the lower home navigation bar within a mobile app, even if the user does not have a gift card on their account
- If no gift cards are available, selecting Scan will default to “Add New Payment Method”
- If gift card(s) are available, the Scan & Pay screen will display with the following options:
- Default
- Manage
- Reload
- Scannable Barcode
- Gift Card Number
Gift Card Screen
- Users have the ability to add a new gift card
- Default Button
- Allows the user to set a gift card as their default
- The default gift card will display first on the Scan page
- Manage Button
- Currently allows users to:
- Load (reload) a gift card
- Remove a gift card
- Reload Button
- Allows the user to reload the gift card balance
- Also allows the user to auto reload
Reload Functionality
- The current gift card balance is displayed under the associated gift card number
- Pre-set reload amounts are available: $25, $50, $100, as well as a custom amount option
- Auto-reload functionality is supported
- Users can configure auto-reload settings
Auto Reload Indicator
- Gift cards with auto reload enabled display “Auto Reload Enabled” on the Scan & Pay page
- Users can configure auto-reload settings, including:
- A balance threshold (when the card drops below a specified dollar amount)
- A reload amount (the set dollar amount that will be automatically added)
Add New Gift Card Screen
- Customer inputs first and last name, along with the new gift card number
- Once the new gift card is added, it will display on the Scan & Pay page
Ordering Processing Flow:
- Cashier rings up items in Square POS
- Cashier selects Gift Card as the payment method
- Cashier scans the gift card barcode from the customer’s phone
- Cashier completes payment in Square POS
Important Hardware Notes:
- A USB barcode scanner will only work if it is plugged directly into the iPad
- In a Square Kiosk Terminal setup, there is no supported way to connect a wired USB scanner to the iPad
- Because of this limitation, wired USB scanners will not work in this setup
- The only supported option is to use a Bluetooth barcode scanner paired directly to the iPad
